Command

/shipmates-auto-trunk

TDD loop that drives trunk green, one commit at a time

Test-driven trunk loop — parse a goal, red→green each task, commit to main.

How to run it

Run it in your harness

/shipmates-auto-trunk <goal> [mode=plan|run] [push=no-push|push] [stop-after=N] [verify-command=<cmd>]

<angle brackets> = required · [square brackets] = optional

How it works

Plan mode is the default: it builds the task list and previews commits without touching trunk. Run mode performs the loop. Push is always opt-in.

  1. Intake

Read the goal, the repo's default branch, protection status, and the verify command.

No spawn — the run gathers context first.

  2. Plan

The product-manager turns the goal into an ordered task list of testable changes.

  3. Loop

For each task: SDET writes a failing test, engineer makes it pass, verify command runs green, then commit. Red tasks are fixed or rolled back.

  4. Stop

Report completed tasks, rollbacks, discoveries, and any push or protection fallback.

The run closes out once the list is empty and the tree is green.

Shared machinery — how commands work: worktrees, the CI gate, the review board, and merge modes.

When to use

  • You want small, proven commits on trunk rather than a reviewed PR.
  • A tracked issue with a PR gate? /shipmates-ship-issue is the stronger fit.
